The Return of Y2K Beauty: Why the 2000's are Trending

Trends such as glossy lips and frosted eye shadows along with butterfly clips and thin eyebrows are proving that history really does just repeat itself. Although some styles have been modernized, many others are being used just as they were. 

Makeup Trends Making a Comeback

Among the most notable comebacks of the past several months are glossy lips. In the early 2000s, one could hardly see a celebrity without shimmery lips. Today, lip gloss is making a comeback, replacing the matte lipsticks that dominated makeup trends throughout the 2010s. Beauty brands are promoting lip gloss with improved formulas that provide the same shiny finish popular in the early 2000s without the sticky texture that many people disliked.

One of the reunions in the realm of makeup is frosted makeup. Bright colors of silver and champagne eyeshadows which were considered outdated, are being introduced to a new generation. In the past, we would wear frosted eye colors with heavy makeup, but now the latest trend is to combine these particular colors with lighter makeup applications. 

Another beauty trend making a comeback is thin eyebrows. Ultra-thin brows were characteristic of the beauty trends of Y2K, but now many people regret over plucking them as other fashion options became popular. The modern version of thin eyebrows is that they are thinner in comparison to other recent years, but many makeup artists recommend creating a shape of the eyebrows gradually and not plucking them thoroughly in order to prevent the hair from being destroyed. 

Y2K Hair Accessories Return

Never forget the hair. Hair accessories are back in style again. Hair clips of different types, including butterfly clips, claw clips, and colorful barrettes have made their way into everyday fashion.

There is no doubt that social media has a significant role in bringing about these trends. Platforms such as TikTok give all individuals the opportunity to recreate different celebrity looks with the help of famous personalities from the early 2000s. At the same time, fashion designers and makeup companies keep on working on the collection, inspired by the Y2K trend.

The revival of beauty from the 2000s is not just about copying the past but also about mixing the past with the present. People are now trying to combine old styles with new methods of beauty. They create beauty looks that have been out of fashion for the last few years.
