This past weekend we got a surprise release from Drake, which quickly captured everyone's attention despite the project having a lot of songs that we already heard.

Drake announced that he was dropping Dark Lane Demo Tapes on all platforms on April 30th via Instagram, where he disclosed that it was a compilation of, "...some leaks and some joints from SoundCloud and some new vibes," which is accurate to say the least.

The 14-track project includes songs like "War" and the TikTok record setter "Toosie Slide," which hit the top of the Billboard 100 upon its release. Other tracks like "Chicago Freestyle" "Desires" and "When to Say When" were already on SoundCloud.

From the looks of it, fans wanted easier access to some of his low key music and he delivered with a little extra. Although his music that he had in the tuck was good enough to keep the world streaming, is that enough to top the charts?

According to HITS Daily Double, the Toronto rapper is set to reach No. 1 again with 230-255K projected earned units, but country legend Kenny Chesney is trailing at close second. His album, Here and Now is expected to gross 220-235K earned units.

Drake has the advantage of his streams which are through the roof, but if he doesn’t pull this off it’ll break his streak of back-to-back No. 1 debuts. I think the OVO fans go hard enough to ensure he hits No. 1 every time, but if not he can try again in summer 2020 when he's supposed to drop his 6th studio album.
