I'm sure you have been there when your partner or a friend stopped talking all of sudden. You tried to find out what was wrong? Was it about you? Did you make a mistake? Or was it something else?
I know, it is a pretty confusing state to be in. But here's what you should doto get out of it.
1. Stop Drawing Conclusions - Don't try to overthink & draw conclusions without having real data from your partner or friend. They can stop talking for so many reasons you can't even think of. So, it's better if you just stay calm & handle the situation maturely.
2. Ask - No, you don't need to bother them by asking "what's wrong". Be gentle with them because the person might be having some serious issue in their life. Just ask if they need your help or an ear to listen. If they deny, stop it.
3. Be Patient - Not talking to someone who is so close to you is truly daunting and overthinking this situation is very common. But you must be patient with the person because that's the best thing you can do for them & yourself as well.
Unless the person tells you the real reason why they stopped talking, you can't predict it. The waiting for an answer can hurt you if you are attached to the person. But if you haven't done anything wrong to them you must not feel bad about it. Because it will have nothing to do with you.
So, if you are in a situation like this, the best way to deal with it is to be patient & kind with the other person.
