Yesterday, viewers all over got to experience a night of music dedicated to soul. The annual Soul Train Awards took place last night and it was everything we needed as we're approaching the end of a tumultuous year.

For the third time, the Soul Train Awards was hosted by one of our favorite dynamic duos- Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell (whom you may know more simply as Pam & Gina from the iconic sitcom, "Martin"). The show featured performances by some of the best in R&B, like Jasmine Sullivan, Brandy, Lucky Daye, Charlie Wilson, Smokey Robinson and more!

As far as awards, Chris Brown led in wins receiving an award for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, and 3 awards for his track "Go Crazy." Other awards to note include Best R&B/Soul Female Artist which went to H.E.R., Album of the Year which went to Summer Walker for Over It, and most notably- the very talented and legendary, Monica, was honored with the Lady of Soul award.

Her gracious acceptance speech was followed by a moving performance. We were not only blessed by Monica's runs but we also got a fire soul cypher from Shanice, PJ Morton, Stokely, and Chanté Moore over Eyrkah Badu's "Love of my Life."

The appearances were lit as well, including Jermaine Dupri, Saniya Antoinette Lane, and our favs from The Pynk, Brandee Evans (Mercedes) and Nicco Annan (Uncle Clifford). There was also a red carpet! Ugh, there's nothing like the feeling that we're slowly getting back to normalcy...i.e. real award shows with audiences and carpets!

While we're not quite back yet, music is something that keeps us going- especially Soul. So, thank you BET for providing us with yet another phenomenal night of music and shoutout to all of the night's winners, nominees and performers.
