Toosii Wants To Leave A Legacy Like Nipsey Hussle

The rap game is starting to shake up as Raleigh-born native Toosii is bringing the heat in his new mixtape "Thank You For Believing" which is said to be the rapper's most honest and raw project yet. Already generating over a billion streams in his career, the Syracuse-born artists wanted to create a personal project as a gift to his audience and create a body of work to show his fans how thankful he is for their support.

The 13-track project was released this this month and each track on the album is placed so eloquently, as you will hear a story from start to finish. The standout track "Shop", which features fellow rapper DaBaby, is played over a guitar-infused beat and truly stamps the rapper's place in today's Hip Hop. Delivering a smooth, calm tone in each verse along with caption-worthy lyrics and the catchy wordplay DaBaby displayed, this record is a great addition to any summer playlist.

Your Voice Magazine correspondent Ty Cole was able to speak to the rising star about who he personally wants to thank for his new project release and what he hopes his legacy will look like once he is out the Hip Hop game.

Cole: Who do you want to thank the most for believing in your new project, Thank You For Believing?

Toosii: One person I will always thank for believing me is my manager. He stresses me out but he's always there through it all and is there for me through everything. He stood in the studio with me during the recording for this project - he really pushes hard for me.

Cole: What do you hope Toosii’s legacy will be like to the world when you are at the end of your career?

Toosii: One person I look up to is Nipsey Hussle. I wanted to be just like Nipsey while I was growing up and I want my legacy to look like that. The day I flew to LA, I was supposed to meet him. That was one person in life I wanted to meet. I wouldn't know what he would say and I wouldn't want to put words in his mouth, but I definitely would've loved to meet him.

While the conference got a little emotional as we were able to see Nau'Jour Grainger instead of Toosii for second, it's great to see an artist show the vulnerable side as the entire conference call was able to connect with the 21-year-old rapper on a personal level.

The train doesn't stop here as Toosii is set to perform at this year's Rolling Loud: Miami on July 23rd and has been selected as the latest #UpNow artist by the music streaming and artist discovery platform Audiomack, where he is seen on the cover of the playlist. The world of Hip Hop is ready to follow the road to success as the self-proclaimed rookie of the year continues to elevate and grow as the artist we know he can be.
