These Black Women Are Making Billboard History

Written by: Briana Wright @misswrighttv

Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Megan thee Stallion and Beyoncé all made history on Tuesday thanks to the mastery of remixes.

Both sophomore musicians recently dropped remixes that sent their music to the top of the charts. On May 1st, the "Mooo!" artist released the "Say So" remix featuring Nicki Minaj.

Just days before that, Megan Thee Stallion released the remix to her track "Savage" on April 29th featuring Queen Bey. Both songs in their original form were very popular becoming a TikTok sensation, but it shortly became a battle of the remixes for the No. 1 spot.

Not sure if it was the Barbz or Doja's promise to show her boobs, but either way Doja & Nicki pulled it off and hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This is the first No.1 track for each artist, being Doja's 3rd entry and Nicki's 109th! She sets the record for having the most Hot 100 entries amongst women and having the longest wait amongst all Hot 100 chart-toppers, to get a No.1. Both artists also set a record for being the first female rap duo to top the chart.

The "Savage" remix didn't fall short, coming in at No. 2. Upon its release it already marked the Houston rapper's first top 10 on the chart and it quickly climbed from No. 4 to No. 2.

Now, for the first time in history, four black women occupy the top 2 spots on the Hot 100. Shoutout to these talented young women for making history.
