Another "Verzuz" battle of legendary musicians took place on Saturday with two of the South's biggest hitters: Ludacris and Nelly.
Fans were eagerly awaiting the battle since it was announced on May 12th, given that it should've been a perfect match-up. Both rappers being pioneers of the 2000s hip-hop era, hailing from the Dirty South, and having timeless hits under their belt- but was it really a fair match-up?
After tuning into the battle, I'm not so sure and Nelly's wifi issues weren't helping either. The Missouri rapper was enduring some technical difficulties amid the weather in St. Louis, so it required patience to stay tuned in.
With or without internet issues, Luda pretty much drove the battle kicking things off with his feature on "Welcome to Atlanta," then "P-Poppin'" and even teasing some unreleased music with Lil Wayne called "Silence of the Lambs."
This isn’t to say that Nelly didn’t hold it down; he carried his end firing back with hits like “Ride Wit Me,” his feature on “Where the Party At” and saving his best tracks for last, the iconic “Hot in Herre” and “Dilemma.”

So, clearly it wasn’t a lack of hits but simply put, the discography of the Atlanta rapper exceeded that of Nelly. Both with 3 Grammys and numerous chart-toppers; yet, some still argue that Luda won by a landslide.
Maybe if Verzuz didn't only pair artists against the same sex, they could ensure the competition is equal on all fronts. What co-ed battles would you like to see?
