The 2020 American Music Awards took place last night on ABC and it probably was the most colorful AMAs that I've seen thus far. R&B, Hip-Hop, and even Latin music dominated the award show in nominations- so much so, that they even had to expand the categories to adjust the genres' success this year.
The award show was hosted by the very beautiful and talented Taraji P. Henson, who we most recently saw giving BODY in Megan Thee Stallion's new music video "Body." Meg also blessed the AMA stage with the hit song's first live performance!
Along with that, she was the most-nominated female of the night and ended up taking home an award with Cardi B for Best Rap/Hip Hop Song for "WAP." The other nominee leaders were The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch, both having 8. Roddy took home 1 for Best Rap/ Hip-Hop Album and The Weeknd took home 3 awards, tying him with Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift for the most wins last night.
The Weeknd also gave us a stellar performance featuring Kenny G, blocks away from the show outside in LA. Some other lit performances include Lil Baby, Jennifer Lopez, and Bebe Rexha featuring Doja Cat; whom by the way, took home an award for Best Female R&B/Soul Artist and New Artist of the Year!

In other words, Hip-Hop always had something to say but it seems like we're finally getting heard and I LOVE to see it! Congratulations to all of the winners, performers, and nominees and for more on the 2020 AMAs, check out theamas.com.
