Playboi Carti's highly anticipated album is finally set with a release date, cover art, and more. Listeners were starting to think that Whole Lotta Red may have been a bluff, but loyal fans remained patient and will finally get what they've been asking for on Christmas.
The Atlanta rapper has been teasing Whole Lotta Red since 2018. Whether it was confessions at concerts or suspicious tweets, fans were always wondering when the drop would be but early on December 22nd, he finally gave us the real.
Via Twitter, Carti gave us the cover art, the link to pre-order the album and the release date.

He also released some merch which has gotten some criticism for being "satanic." The products include upside down crosses and words like "NEW MAPS OF HELL" & "BLACK LEATHER DEVIL."

The "Magnolia" artist hasn't addressed any of those speculations but it does make fans wonder if its dropping on Christmas is intentional or merely ironic. Regardless, I'm sure fans will make time to listen to the project and decipher if the music is as dark as the apparel. Kanye West is expected to have a hand in the production of the album. Future, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert and Kid Cudi are also anticipated to feature on the project.
Carti's debut album, Die Lit, came out in 2018 and definitely set the tone with features from Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Gunna and more. Between that and the extensive wait for Whole Lotta Red, the pressure is definitely on; but it looks like Playboi is applying it.
