JUNO award-winning artist Dru Grange talks about his roots in music,

the Soul Nostalgic Residency and more!

INTERVIEWED BY TASHIMA JONES

Share a few details about yourself. Where are you from? Describe your musical journey. When did it all begin?

I grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, with roots in Jamaica through my parents. My musical journey began 25 years ago; singing in my bedroom. That passion took me from being part of the Juno-winning group In Essence to launching a solo career with two gold singles, multiple Juno nominations, and world tours. Today, I’m headlining a sold-out Vegas-style R&B throwback residency; bringing timeless vibes to the stage every month.

That's exciting! How would you define your style of music? Who and what has influenced you musically?

My music is timeless, soulful R&B with a touch of Pop and Hip-Hop; heavily influenced by '90s legends like Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Joe, and D’Angelo.

Please share more details about Soul Nostalgic, the Band, and the Residency. What’s the experience like? What can listeners and the audience expect?

Soul Nostalgic is a Vegas-style R&B and soul throwback experience led by me and an eight-piece soul band. We bring your favorite hits from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s to life. I

perform alongside two professional hip-hop dancers, creating an immersive show where we interact with the audience—even coming down to their tables. With a brass section delivering

electrifying performances, the vibe is unmatched at the Acqua Supper Club. The response from Toronto has been incredible and the atmosphere is pure magic.

Do you have any plans to expand to the U.S.?

When I created Soul Nostalgic, the goal was always to cross over to the U.S. Since R&B and soul are rooted in American music, the audience there will truly connect with it. This Vegas-style show was designed for Las Vegas and beyond, with 2025 as the target.

Great! Where can we get more information about upcoming projects and the Soul Nostalgic Residency? What are the upcoming show dates?

Please go to SoulNostalgic.com or our Instagram pages @SoulnostalgicENT and @DruGrange for more information and updates. The next show date is December 20th entitled “A Soul Nostalgic Christmas" at Acqua Supper Club located at 50 Prince Edward Island Cres, Toronto, Ontario (on the CNE grounds).
