Eric Bellinger Says He Would Collaborate On A Song With Taye Diggs With The 'Right Record'

Eric Bellinger is finding a 'new light' on his debut studio album, New Light, distributed by EMPIRE and currently available on streaming platforms. The Grammy-Award winning singer/songwriter had a star-studded production to produce the full-length project, including appearances from Brandy, Sevyn, Dom Kennedy, Teedra Moses, Kierra Sheard, and The Game, as well as production from industry-heavy hitters such as Zaytoven, OG Parker, Rodney Jerkins, Ayo & Keyz, and Jazze Pha among others.

After penning tracks for megastars like Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Wale, Selena Gomez, Teyana Taylor, amongst others, the 37-year-old is finally taking center stage and showing the world who Bellinger is with this 15-track masterpiece.

Your Voice Media correspondent Ty Cole chatted with Bellinger in an exclusive interview, with Bellinger telling us the album is a "new beginning for his entire career."

"Although this is album 35, the place I am at in my career is a resurfacing of everything internally and the rebranding of who I am," he expressed. "I really feel like I maximized my time during the pandemic to attack and become better for myself. I really did that work."

When asked about handpicking the features and production for the album, the R&B veteran wanted people to know his name needs to "reside amongst such equity as they are royalty."

"When you hear these names and see people that you know are familiar, you see people that you trust. This is a legendary space with Grammy-award-winning artists," he explains. "Once you see these names on the album, it's a brand and product you can trust. In today's space, I've learned consumers need a little more in order to press play."

Many may or may not know, but Bellinger's wife La'Myia Good is a musician who was formerly a part of the R&B group Isyss. The 'What About Us' singer reveals she gives her feedback on his music when she listens, and almost convinced him to not feature the track Euphoric, letting us know she "wasn't feeling it."

"Before Brandy was featured on the song Euphoric, I had Euphoric for a year and a half. I was thinking forward and while I love my babe, I kept the track," he said. "I hit Brandy and when she came to the studio, she lost it. She and her daughter loved the song and she told me to send it to her."

Bellinger also shared details on his new variety special with Taye Diggs and Ne-Yo called The CW’s ‘Black Pack’ Variety Specials which is set to air on Monday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. EST.

"A buddy of mine named Fuzzy Fantabulous shared the opportunity with me and expressed The CW was looking for someone who can sing, dance, and act since I'll be sharing the stage with Taye Diggs and Ne-Yo," he tells. "Once he shared my name and convince them who I was, they loved the idea of having me on board and I was ready. I think being ready helped me get into this position."

He even tells us with "the right record," he would be open to collaborating on a track with him and says he's talented. The songwriter explains the variety special will be the "rebirth" of Eric Bellinger.
