'BMF' Stars Michole White and Russell Hornsby Reveal Their Characters "Superpower"

A family that prays together, stays together - and that's exactly what we will see in the new Starz crime family drama Black Mafia Family. The 10-episode series will recount the story of two brothers named Demetrius Flenory, known worldwide as Big Meech, and Terry Flenory who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement.

The series stars Demetrius Flenory's son, Demetrius Flenory Jr. who plays him, and Da'Vinchi who plays Terry Flenory. Other principal cast members include Michole Briana White, Ajiona Alexus, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Russell Hornsby, and Myles Truitt who also star as series regulars.

Your Voice Media correspondent Ty Cole spoke to Hornsby and White about their characters' strengths and superpowers they will show as the season unfolds.

Cole: What strength will your character show this season?

White: Lucille is a quiet storm and the anchor of the family - the glue that will hold them together.

Cole: Do you think your character did a good job as a father and how will your character's relationship with his sons grow this season.

Hornsby: What Charles focuses on is his spirituality and commitment to God. His job is to provide for his family to make sure they have what they need - not always what you want. What we will learn through the course of the show is his kids will bear witness they come from dire circumstances and they can't do it. His kids had to grow faster than others and they are doing what young men do - if my parents can't do, I have to do and you'll see at some point, Charles hands will get tiep.

Cole: What do you think Charles and Lucille's superpower is as a couple?

Hornsby: Their commitment is their superpower. Learning from Ms. Flenory, their superpower was their love and their friendship. The show will convey that their kids came from a balanced and nuclear family - they just didn't have an opportunity. In this show, you'll see men looking for an opportunity.

Fans will see a lot of love and friendship on "Black Mafia Family" which premieres on September 26th on STARZ and internationally on STARZPLAY.
